TAFE Outreach programs are closely aligned to the Federal Social Inclusion Agenda ensuring NSW education is accessible to people who face barriers to learning including geographical and social isolation, language and cultural factors, financial hardship, lack of educational confidence, being unaware of opportunities to learn, a disability or family commitments.

Project Description

The overall aim of the Place Based model of community engagement has been to assist individuals and local organisations develop skills that will support economic and social regeneration within their own community. The individual projects embedded within this model have a particular emphasis on social enterprise and building community capability and productivity.  This capability has been built through the establishment of a framework where individuals can access education in an inclusive and supportive learning environment and participate in work experiences that are purposeful and enrich the social fabric of their communities.
These individual projects include:

Goonellabah Youth Enterprise Project – Community in the Kitchen (Partnerships with TAFE Outreach; YWCA; Lismore Police; Youth Interagency; Lismore Council
Caincross Project – Demonstration Garden for Sustainable Living (Partnerships with TAFE Outreach; Port Macquarie/Hasting Council; New Horizons Enterprise Ltd – Recovery and Resources Service Programme; Raymondis Pty Ltd.)
Nambucca Valley Project – Bowraville Better Factory Social Enterprises (Partnerships with TAFE Outreach; Miimi Aboriginal Cooperation; Bowraville Local Aboriginal Land Council; Nambucca Valley Youth Service; Bowraville Chamber of Commerce; Muurrbuy Arts and Cultural Centre; Ngurrala Aboriginal Cooperation; Beyond Empathy; Durri Aboriginal Medical Service.)
